Unami sushi was started in 2013 by Toby Helms and Abigail Kasel with a goal of serving high quality sushi made per order in a friendly, quick service environment. Toby has worked in several restaurants serving several different types of cuisine including Thai, Chinese, Japanese, American, Spanish, and Italian. After working as the head chef at a sushi restaurant for 5 years he opened his first restaurant at the age of 23.

Blessed with the ability to use the highest quality ingredients and a need to learn and create he established a fine dining sushi restaurant that had an extended menu, 7 course wine and sake pairing dinners, and full service catering available for up to 250 people. Abigail has worked in several restaurants as well on the customer service side and studied nutrition and attended a personnel training school in Florida. With thier combined experience they sought to create a delicious, healthy alternative to fast food with the highest quality ingredients and their own time tested recipes.

Our menu focuses around our signature sushi burritos which are filled with high quality sushi grade fish cut right here in our restaurants as well as fresh vegetables and signature sauces created from scratch from our own recipes.

Our rice cure and blackening seasonings are also made on site by us and our team of chefs. Joining us from the last sushi restaurant is the previous two head chefs trained by Toby. Our team has a total combined experience of over 50 years in the restaurant industry and has the strictest standards for food quality and service.
